Well yesterday it reached 28 degrees in my farmyard!!!
I was trying to plant roses...I have 60 in total to find locations for, I was given over 80!!!!Trouble is we have sandy granite soil in most areas so trying to dig holes is not funny and Mark is now working during the days so its down to me!
Cats are trying to help but as soon as they dig a hole they poop in it!!!
I went to do my usual check on the babies yesterday mid morning only to see!!!!..... Promise paddling in the water trough!!! she carefully walked up to the big round trough, had a drink, then one front leg went in....then the other!!! there she was splashing and stomping and having agreat time! only trouble is I have to carry the water from the bowser to their trough about 70 metres and with 35 litres in one hand and 45 in the other its not much fun having to re-fill every day lol ah well at least she is happy lol
She and Uhelga are really bum high now and look so funny against each other like little and large I suspect Promise is going to shed out quite dark.
Meanwhile, I think Uhelga must be coming into season as Andante in the next field was very agitated and calling lots yesterday so I re-taped the paddock at home and brought him home to be next to Octavia, oh did he get stressy, calling, sweating and generally being quite coltish...not with me, he was an angel walking home, remebered his manners waited at gates and behaved beautifully considering every horse was calling him! behind and in front!
At one stage I thought he was going into colic later in the early evening, he was rolling and sweating and I noticed him kicking his stomach... I gave him some hay and he ate it quite happily... Sweating was cos he has such a thick winter coat, kicking his stomach was.....lol his bits were out and troubling him lol Octavia let him sniff and snort at her bits over the fence but then the silly lad did his mouthing "I'm a baby" at her head and she didnt want to know lol
Poppy's udder is starting to become an udder...nothing really to write home about but when yr checking it everyday you notice even the slightest change and they are definately feelable now.
Today.... not sure what I am going to do apart from take a saddle around to a nice couple who have got a breton Gelding and they ordered a navada Barefoot from my supplier. They want me to fit his dually headcollar today too so lets hope its not too hot!
Pics are of Andante mid calling to all the others, this is the first time he has been on his own away from friends of his age!
